While most of the cats acquire this behavioural problem during play aggression some are victims of loneliness. When a cat is on its own for a long stretch of time, it gathers a lot of frustration thus resulting in this cat behavioral problem. Solution: you can keep yourself safe from this cat behavior problem by playing interactive games with the cat daily. The cats can be given catnip mice, fishing poles which are meant for kittens or imitation bugs that will keep them in control and train them. This should be done only under supervision. Avoid playing rough with the cat and if you can anticipate the bite, toss a toy so that your feet are safeguarded. Another young kitten can be brought into the house to let all youthful energy of your pet be channelized. Aggression towards other cats is a common cat behavior problem. Households where cats are more in number may sometimes fall into a fight. This happens due to lot of reasons. One may be an alert mode that happens due to falling of a bookshelf when two cats are resting side by side. Both might become aggressive in posture and in turn start a fight. Sometimes there a fear-induced aggression where a cat may be eyeing an outside cat but the one in household comes in the way. Seeing its fellow cat in attacking posture the fellow cat might attack it in fear of being attack. Sometimes it might not be anything more than two cats playing together. Solution: you need to reintroduce the cats to resolve this type of cat behavior problem. The cats might get into a fight the moment they see each other so, they should kept in separate rooms. This should go on till the cats get accustomed to each other’s scent. While picking up one cat you should throw a towel on the other cat or you become the target of redirected aggression. You need to encourage the cats to have a good time together. This can be done by giving good food or toys tied to a string to both cats on opposite sides of the door. It takes lot of patience to solve cat behavior problems. You need to reward the cats and praise them so that they are encouraged to behave normally. There is no point in scolding the aggressor as things could get worse and you might have to give up your beloved pet. You must understand that cat behavior problems can take few days to resolve. After which, cats can become your perfect feline friend. The severity of aggression and your methods define how much time it takes to curb the aggression in your furry pal. |
